My name is Mairead, a 27-year-old Irish designer who has embarked on a design journey from the lush landscapes of Ireland to the vibrant city of Vancouver. With an honours degree in Interior Architecture, earned in 2020, I began my professional career as an Interior Architect in Ireland, collaborating with architectural firms. Since my move to Vancouver, I've lent my talents to two distinguished design firms, contributing to a diverse array of projects ranging from multi-family residential to commercial ventures.
As a designer, I'm driven by an insatiable curiosity for creative designs on a global scale. Continuously improving my creative skills and staying abreast of design and artistic trends are paramount to my approach. I keep myself engaged with architectural thought leaders on social media and am a devoted subscriber to Frame Web magazine, a personal favourite of mine. This publication showcases emerging designers and architectural trends worldwide, ensuring I remain well-informed about innovative and artistic design across the globe.
Creativity isn't confined to the workplace for me; I'm a passionate creative both inside and outside of my profession. In my personal time, I work with textiles and materials, a pursuit that significantly informs my design decision-making, particularly regarding materiality and finishes throughout projects. These artistic mediums have catalyzed my exploration of a more diverse and creative approach to design. My experience working in both Ireland and Canada has exposed me to a broad spectrum of design styles, encompassing both traditional and contemporary elements.
